Being a chick, I know I come up with a LOT of excuses to NOT go to the doctor.  I'm too busy, it's too expensive, my insurance doesn't cover this, blah blah.  NO more!  If you don't take care of yourself, no one will.  Plus, early detection saves lives...yours!

Luckily, South Central Public Health District wants to help women throughout the Magic Valley.  Here's how.

Thank you to Cheryle Becker and Amy Lierman from South Central Public Health District for coming in today to talk about their women's health check campaign:

According to the Times News:

Qualifying women can get free breast and cervical cancer screenings through the Women’s Health Check (WHC) program.

South Central Public Health District, also known as Women's Health Check is looking for 300 women.  So if you think you may be eligible, all you have to do is call.  You can dial 211 or call 208-737-5936.

If you already know you have cancer, you may still be eligible to be helped:

Women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer through WHC may qualify for treatment through a special Medicaid program if they are enrolled in WHC prior to a tissue diagnosis, or if they are uninsured and a U.S. citizen or eligible alien.

Here's what I've learned in life: call and ask.  Even if you are not eligible for something, sometimes the simple act of asking will lead you down another path to help you.  Early detection is key in just about everything in life.

Take care of yourself, so you can life a long, full life.
