I realize that we shouldn't believe everything we read on the internet, but when multiply sources are all saying the same thing it's hard to think there isn't some truth to it. I'm specifically talking about 5 foods that are linked to cancer due to petroleum. If you are like me, you are wondering how in the world petroleum is even in our foods. We teach our kids to stay away from petroleum, yet most foods that have petroleum are geared towards kids due to artificial coloring.

According to David Wolfe, Yellow 5 and Red 40 are just two of the commonly used food dyes made from petroleum.These dyes have been linked to serious health problems, including cancer, hyperactivity, and allergic reactions.

David Wolfe suggests these are the top 5 children's snacks made with petroleum:

  1. Cheetos
  2. Fruit Snacks
  3. Teddy Grahams
  4. Pop-tarts
  5. M & M's

Part of me wants to chalk this information up as irrelevant because I was raised on Pop-tarts and Cheetos. However, my mother instinct wants to remove even the smallest possibility of childhood cancer from my kids diets.
