TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – A couple of public meetings and one item for consideration are on today’s City Council agenda.

The item is a request for the approval of a concept created by the Twin Falls Archway Committee. The committee is proposing an archway that would cross Shoshone Street at City Park and include an electronic message board to announce upcoming community events.

The committee, an ad hoc group of 13 members, asked the public in January for art ideas in the form of drawings, paintings, sketches or digitally designed images from local residents.

“There’s tremendous talent in our community,” Melissa Crane, sales and marketing director for Magic Valley Arts Council, told News Radio 1310 in January. “We’ll be interested to see what rises to the surface.”

The proposed archway is one that resembles the Perrine Bridge.

The City Council also will hear two public hearings – a request for a zoning change and map amendment for the purpose of developing a commercial retail and professional office at the northwest corner of Madrona Street North and Cheney Drive; and a request to annex 1.3 acres with a zoning designation that would allow heavy manufacturing at 305/307/309 Hankins Road South.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in the Twin Falls City Council Chambers, 305 Third Ave. East.
