BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) -- A couple from Phoenix, Arizona nabbed in Twin Falls with nearly ten pounds of heroin and methamphetamine were sentenced to prison Friday.

Jess Ramirez-Orta, 27, was sentenced to eight years behind bars, while his girlfriend, 24-year-old Marina Morales, got three years. Prosecutors say the pair were driving the drugs from Phoenix to Seattle when Ramirez-Orta was pulled over in Twin Falls for driving 87 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour zone.

Neither of the defendants had a valid driver's licence, and Ramirez-Orta was on felony probation. Officers arrested the couple after finding 5.3 pounds of heroin and 4.2 pounds of meth in the trunk of the their rental car. In addition to the prison time, Ramirez-Orta and Morales were ordered to forfeit $150,000 in cash proceeds.
