Assassin’s Creed Rogue Trailers: The First Look at a New Rogue
Ubisoft is celebrating Gamescom 2014 in a big way, giving us our first look at Assassin's Creed Rogue in action.
These two new gameplay trailers for Assassin's Creed Rogue (one provided above and one below) have been posted by Ubisoft. The first one focuses on Rogue's Arctic Naval combat and the other on its land-based gameplay, set in the River Valley. There's a lot of Black Flag's mechanics and engine heavily prevalent in the gameplay we have seen, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, nor is Rogue a complete copy and paste job.
The Arctic setting of Rogue's naval combat will make things much more difficult at sea, as players will need to be careful of their surroundings lest they get into some titanic trouble. At the same time, the Templar Order has access to immense wealth, giving you the best ships available during this era.
The land gameplay features the classic Assassin's Creed format we've grown to love, but with a Templar twist. Shay is indeed part of the "dark side" in Rogue, and we wonder how different things will be now that we're taking the role of a Templar throughout the entire adventure of an Assassin's Creed title.
One thing we do want to mention is our support of the "different games for different systems" idea. Sure those who haven't upgraded to next-gen yet may feel slighted, but with one team focusing on just next-gen technology and the other team focusing on just current-gen, this means we'll get two excellent entries for the franchise. This is much better than just having one game that seems like it's been held back for the sake of being ported over to both current and next-gen at the same time.
Assassin's Creed: Rogue launches Nov. 11 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
You know the Templar know where to hide a body, but so do we.
