A new day brings a new game falling victim to a leak, with Assassin's Creed Unity being the latest casualty of faulty plumbing.

A new challenge mode, called Rifts, will come packaged with the next Assassin's Creed game, according to CVG. The mode will be a time-based platforming mode where players will collect floating symbols for points while competing against ghosts of other players in a race-like format. Also, there are reports that these time trials will allow us to play as other Assassins from the franchise, as noted in the screenshot above. There was a video showing off the new mode, but it has been pulled from YouTube via a claim from Ubisoft, lending some credence to the rumor.

We like when Assassin's Creed thinks outside the box, as it normally means that we're going to have some fun new mode to check out (except for you, Revelations, that tower defense mode stunk). This looks like it could be a fun and quickly competitive mode, especially if we can play as past or possibly future Assassins. We sure don't recognize all of the faces in the above screenshot, so perhaps this will be a glimpse into the future as well.

Assassin's Creed: Unity launches Oct. 28 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
