I'm a huge fan of the Dave Ramsey Show!  I've drank the Kool Aid.  "Debit is Dumb, Cash Is King."  And after reading this story about how Bank Of America is going to charge their customers five dollars per month to use their debit cards really reinforces my hatred for corporate America.  Maybe not all of them, but definitely the ones who got bailed out.

Anyways, according to the Consumerist, here's the deal:

A rep for the country's largest bank tells Bloomberg that some customers with basic checking accounts who use debit cards for purchases may start seeing this $5 fee in January.

However, the article did mention that if you only use your debit card to withdraw money from the ATM then you won't be charged.

OK so they are charging for convenience.  Don't they know that once you give it away for free you can NEVER take it back?  I guess not.

Here's what I know: I work hard, I pay my taxes, I do the right thing day in and day out and I'm sure as hell NOT going to help feed the beast.  If my current bank decides to go this route and start charging me, then I will take all my money and move it to someone who will treat me better.  However, if all the banks go this route, then money still talks baby and I'll break out the twenties when I need to.

As for you?  What do you think?  Should we pay for convenience?  Will you move to a different bank?  Will you go cash only?
