It's hard to be objective when you are so close to something. I think that's my biggest problem when I came across a national website that ranked the best and worst community colleges. How did our own College of Southern Idaho rank? Here's the answer.

Wallet Hub has done many different types of surveys and rankings. Normally, they use criteria I agree with when it comes to coming up with these lists. I'm still not certain that I agree with all of the metrics they applied to this.

First, before I start my with my questions about their measurements, here's how College of Southern Idaho ranked.

So, according to this, College of Southern Idaho comes in at #452 among community colleges. Hmm.

Before you draw any conclusions, I would highly recommend you look at all the factors they baked into this. Cost and financing, education outcomes and career outcomes all play a part. I completely agree with tuition costs, grant availability and those type of metrics being used for this. However, I don't think it's fair to punish the institutions if the student doesn't follow through and use their degree in what this list considers a proper way.

It's just a list, so it's not really a big deal that maybe CSI doesn't rank high on it. But, since this list is being discussed nationally, I felt like I needed to say out loud that I don't believe it's completely a fair assessment.

Now, we go on with our lives. (hopefully)
