BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Boise State University football player accused of attempting to strangle a woman has been suspended from the team indefinitely.

Police on Tuesday morning arrested 19-year-old David Lucero and took him to the Ada County Jail on suspicion of felony attempted strangulation. He remained in the Ada County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say police responded to a report of a fight in progress on Monday evening where witnesses reported an argument between an adult male and adult female turned physical. Police later contacted Lucero and took him into custody.

Lucero, a redshirt freshman who played tight end, appeared in nine games for the Broncos this season, catching four passes for 63 yards. The Broncos fell to 7-3 after losing to New Mexico on Saturday.
