Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A group of investors in Burley are looking to bring one shopping complex back to life. And in return, help boost the local economy and bring more options to the area. The Snake River Plaza was built back in the late 1970's. Initially business was good, but in recent years the complex has sat empty all but for one business. Now, four local investors have bought the property and are looking to renovate and rejuvenate the entire complex. And after the 4.5 million dollar investment, locals can be proud of the new complex they are affectionately renaming River Gate Crossing.

“The plans are full renovation. We’re going to de-mall the mall is what were going to call it. We’re going to bring all of the store fronts to the front… open it up so that everyone will have access to their own shops. Were hoping to bring some local business here and drive the local economy here in Burley and give them some nice places to shop as well as some nice places to eat,” said River Gate Managing Member Justin Silcock. The new River Gate Crossing Mall will feature 10 to 12 renovated store fronts, including a handful of restaurants and other shops. Work on the project is expected to get underway in the next few weeks. And if all goes to plan, should be opened for business in late fall – early winter of 2015.
