MCCALL, Idaho (KLIX) Officials have revealed the location of the pine tree that will sit at the U.S. Capitol this Christmas. According to the official website capitolchristmastree.com, the 80 foot Engelmann spruce is on the Little Ski Hill near McCall, Idaho. But, it won't be there much longer.

The tree is scheduled to be cut down today at around noon. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon and will be broadcast live on KTVB-TV (watch LIVE here),which is a sponsor. The tree was one of three other candidates that had to meet certain height and shape requirements. The Capital Christmas Tree will make its way through Idaho and across the nation. It will make a stop in Twin Falls on Monday, November 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Twin Falls City Park.

Julie Thomas with the Sawtooth National Forest says everyone is invited to join in on the celebration. The Capitol Christmas Tree will be joined by Idaho's Giant Potato with music and food. Thomas says a chili potato dinner will be served in exchange for donations of non-perishable food, which will be donated to local charities. The Forest Service will also give 4th grade children a free National Park passes as part of the Every Kid in a Park program. Parents of the children will also be given a free Christmas tree cutting permit.
