TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Chobani says it will use almost $100 million incremental investment funds to expand its manufacturing plant in Twin Falls.

The first steel beams have already been erected for what will be an addition to the east side of the existing facility. An additional stand-alone office building also will be constructed later this year.

The construction project, which will be completed in phases, is scheduled for completion in 2017 and will provide additional jobs in the area.

According to a news release, the company invested more than $450 million to build the 1 million square-foot facility, which opened in 2013. In addition to the expansion plans in Twin Falls, the company is exploring plans to expand its original plant in central New York.

In its three years in Idaho, the yogurt manufacturing giant has initiated a job training program in conjunction with the College of Southern Idaho and The Chobani Foundation, the company's charitable arm, and has supported several community projects.
