Gooding County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The Idaho Transportation Department will soon begin two construction projects to give Highway 46 in Gooding County a facelift.The first project will begin within the next couple of weeks by applying an asphalt overlay between Wendell and Gooding.

Paving is should be finished by the end of June and motorists can expect fifteen to twenty minute delays.

After the Wendell Dairy Days parade, reconstruction of Idaho Street through Wendell will begin and likely be finished by mid–September.

"They're going to get a lot smoother and better riding and longer lasting roadway. North of Gooding, same thing, all we are doing is trying to add probably 8 to 10 years of life onto our roadway. And through the city of Wendell we should be looking at about 20 years of life out of the new roadway,” said Nathan Jerke with the Idaho Transportation Department.

Other projects along Highway 46 include the nearly finished roadway realignment and bridge reconstruction of Bob Barton Road and the Rex Leland Highway.
