BOISE, Idaho (AP) — About 150 firefighters as well as helicopters and air tankers are fighting a central Idaho wildfire burning in brush and timber about 50 miles east of Cascade.

Fire officials say the blaze on Tuesday is just more than a square mile in size and burning in a remote area 8 miles east of Deadwood Reservoir. Officials say more crews are being called in and that the U.S. Forest Service has closed several roads and trails in the area to protect the public. No homes are threatened.

Officials say a firefighter injured by a falling snag earlier in the week was treated at a hospital and released. Fire officials discovered the blaze on Sunday morning, and when crews arrived the fire had grown to about 7 acres.
