JEROME, Idaho – A natural gas line that broke this afternoon when an excavator hit it while digging has been secured.

“Our crew is there, the line break is secured, there were no evacuations,” said Byron Defenbach, spokesman with Intermountain Gas.

The incident occurred at 821 E. Ave. B. At least three homes and possibly an LDS chapel were affected, Defenbach said, but they will have full service again this afternoon.
