BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University has named a familiar face as athletic director to replace Mark Coyle: Carroll College Athletic Director Curt Apsey.

Apsey served in the Boise State athletic department as senior associated athletic director from 1998 to 2014, serving as interim athletic director for four months before Coyle's hire in December of 2011. His return was announced Monday.

Coyle announced Friday that he was leaving the Broncos to lead the athletic department at Syracuse.

Apsey left Boise State last fall for the AD job at Montana's Carroll College.
