TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Demolition of the former Rogerson Hotel has been postponed due to structural stability with the building.

City Manager Travis Rothweiler told the City Council on Monday evening that the problem is with the side of the building that faces Main Avenue, and when razed part of it will likely fall onto the street, necessitating closing that portion of the road.

A section of Second Avenue already is closed while Intermountain Gas Co. works to replace gas lines, and the city decided to postpone the demolition of the building by at least 72 hours so another road closure doesn’t happen at the same time.

The demolition was originally scheduled for today.

The site of the Rogerson building, across from the future City Hall, is part of the city’s plan to improve downtown.
