You have to love the Internet. Or, maybe you don't. But, the one thing you can count on and that is a hoax will be spread and most of your friends list will fall for it. And, yes, it's happening again.

No doubt you've seen a multitude of your friends passing the word that all of your Facebook posts are about to go public and the known universe, as we know it, will explode. Maybe not that last part, but definitely the first. Here's what that dreaded status looks like.

Deadline tomorrow !!! Everything you’ve ever posted becomes public from tomorrow. Even messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 13 News talked about the change in Facebook’s privacy policy. I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, messages or posts, both past and future. With this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. Copy and paste

Oh yes, the infamous Channel 13 News. Their weather man sucks. Kidding. There is no Channel 13 and there is no sudden revelation of your posts to the super-dangerous public. This is a hoax that was started four years ago. And, I know many of you don't trust Snopes, but they happen to be right on this one.

I would encourage you to read their links and documentation, but I'll break it down for you. When you sign up for a Facebook account, you are giving them the right to use your info however they dang well please. And, you can't retroactively change that agreement by posting a status update.

This hoax rears its head every year and this is nothing new. All we ask is that you PLEASE MAKE IT STOP NOW! OK, we feel better now.
