Akira Toriyama, Dragon Quest and Dynasty Warriors collide in this debut trailer for Dragon Quest Heroes.

A collaborative project between Omega Force, Tecmo Koei and Square Enix, Dragon Quest Heroes takes the first-person, RPG combat of the Dragon Quest series, pulls it into the third dimension and turns it into a hack-and-slash/Dynasty Warriors-esque action game. Revealed at SCE Japan's press conference, this trailer showcases a new group of heroes, designed by Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama, take on hordes of the Dragon Quest series' iconic enemies, including those adorable slimes. Of course, characters with glowy eyes and purple robes means they're absolutely evil and immensely powerful.

Dragon Quest Heroes will launch in Japan on PlayStation 3 and PS4 sometime in 2015. Unfortunately, there has been no official word as to a western release. Since the entire Dragon Quest series is heading to mobile devices and Tecmo Koei's Hyrule Warriors is about to debut in North America this month, we'll probably see Dragon Quest Heroes hit Stateside later next year.
