Ducklings Rescued in Boise
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Springtime in southwestern Idaho means flowers are blooming, the sun is shining and ducklings are falling into storm drains.
Boise firefighters used a net Tuesday to scoop a pair of wayward ducklings out of a drain. A homeowner saw the ducklings and asked the Fire Department to help. It was a simpler save than another recent duckling emergency in the nearby town of Eagle. In that case, someone called firefighters after spotting a flock of 11 baby ducks trapped in a drain on March 28.
Boise Fire Department spokeswoman Tammy Berry says ducklings often slip into the drains this time of year because of their small size. In both rescues, all the ducklings were safely returned to their mothers.
