Coming Soon reports that Fathom Events is partnering with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Universal Pictures to bring 'E.T. The Extra Terrestrial' back to theaters for one night only on October 3. If you weren't lucky enough to be in Austin during the Alamo Drafthouse's Summer of '82 series and are dying to revisit your special wrinkly alien friend, now is the time.

The screening will feature a digital restoration of Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic at theaters around the country at 7 p.m., with select theaters also hosting 2 p.m. matinee screenings. There will be a taped intro from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz on the making of this delightful film. In addition:

Fans will discover how Spielberg came up with the idea for E.T. and learn what working on the film was like for the film’s three young stars. As an added treat, Drew Barrymore, who plays Gertie in the film and who currently co-hosts TCM’s “The Essentials” showcase, shares what the film means to her 30 years later.

'E.T.' follows young Elliott as he discovers and befriends a lost alien and tries to help him find his way home, eventually dodging the dangerous government officials who find out about his new pal. The Blu-ray hits on October 9, but if you're feeling extra nostalgic and warm and fuzzy, mark your calendars and make sure you snag a ticket to this one-night-only event!
