East Idaho Snail Mail Seems Slower

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — People in Pocatello have noticed that snail mail has gotten even slower since the U.S. Postal Service mail processing center in the city began to phase out.

The Idaho State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1A1HHzU ) that the Pocatello plant closure was one of 82 centers cut to save an estimated $750 million for the USPS. President of the Idaho State Associate of Letter Carriers John Paige says package and regular mail delivers have slowed since the center shut down.

The Pocatello mayor also said he has many complaints from smaller, rural communities about delayed deliveries, even some people going says without mail. Regional USPS spokesman Brian Sperry says the service is working to provide the best possible service for all customers, and encourages those experiencing issues to contact the Postal Service.
