Elko Man Takes Deal After Death of Fiance

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A 39-year-old Elko man who was accused of driving drunk when he ran over his fiance with a vehicle while they hunted elk in northeast Nevada has pleaded guilty to a reduced conspiracy charge.

Jason Frazier pleaded guilty Monday to a gross misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to commit driving under the influence.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://bit.ly/1z6eGik) the plea deal casts 46-year-old Kelli Cantrell as partially responsible for her September 2013 death.

Frazier could get probation or up to a year in county jail at sentencing March 23.

Frazier told authorities that Cantrell jumped out of the moving vehicle, but prosecutors said blood on the bumper suggested she was hit by the front of the vehicle.

Frazier's blood alcohol level was estimated at 0.14 percent at the time.
