BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former prisoner who was released last year after being convicted in a violent roadside attack is facing new criminal charges.

KTVB-TV reports 33-year-old Sarah Pearce, of Homedale, was arrested Sunday in Boise. She has been charged with introduction of contraband into a jail and drug possession. Police had responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle when they found Pearce, who officers say was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect previously spent 11 years in prison for the June 2000 attack of Linda Lebrane. The victim told police a group beat her with a baseball bat and stabbed her on the side of the road. Pearce was released on probation in 2014 after a judge acknowledged problems with witness accounts and a police lineup.
