JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – Proposed changes are being made to U.S. Highway 93 near the 200 South Road intersection – and you’re invited to comment at an upcoming open house.

The open house is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game regional office, 324 South 417 East, Jerome.

Those interested may drop in anytime during the meeting to view final design, project illustrations, and related information. Representatives from the Idaho Transportation Department and the design team will be on hand to answer questions and gather input.

The final design follows the concepts outlined in the 2008 Environmental Assessment for U.S. 93 between I-84 and Idaho 25 and includes refinements to the preliminary design that was presented to the public in 2016. The project will address safety needs at the intersection, will address future roadway capacity needs and address access, and be part of the corridor improvement plan.

ITD continues, saying:

Specific improvements to U.S. 93 for this project include expansion of the roadway to include two lanes in each direction, widened shoulders throughout the project length, and left and right turn bays onto 200 South Road. Improvements to the 200 South Road at the U.S. 93 intersection include addition of a left turn lane and widened shoulders.

The construction is tentatively planned to start in fall 2018 beginning with changes to the irrigation systems, followed by roadway work commencing in 2019.
