BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) - Interstate 84 was reopened Thursday night after wildfires burning south of Baker City, Ore., forced the closure of the interstate between Pendleton, Ore., and Ontario Thursday afternoon.

This comes as firefighters battle two large range fires burning south of the interstate. The Windy Ridge Fire, 12 miles south of Baker City, has burned more than 15,000 acres, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Vale District Bureau of Land Management. ODOT spokesman Tom Strandberg told KTVB that the Windy Ridge Fire was moving toward the interstate Thursday afternoon and there are concerns it could jump the road.

In addition to the Windy Ridge Fire, crews in the area are also battling the Cornet Fire, 16 miles south of Baker City. The fire is estimated at 12,600 acres with just 10 percent containment. Dozens of homes were under evacuations orders as of Thursday morning.
