TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Stage One fire restrictions have been removed in five counties, thanks to cooler temperatures and recent moisture.

Restrictions have been lifted in Twin Falls, Blaine, Camas, Cassia and parts of Custer counties, according to the Bureau of Land Management and Sawtooth National Forest.

Cooler temperatures, shorter days and recent moisture have lowered the threat of wildfire, according to the agencies, and removed the need for open-burning restrictions. Fire managers, however, remind people to stay vigilant against accidentally starting a wildfire:

  • Never leave a camp fire unattended
  • Keep water, dirt and a shovel near your fire at all times
  • Make sure your fire is dead out and cold to the touch before you leave it
  • Never use fireworks, exploding targets or tracer rounds on or near public land.
