BOISE, Idaho (News Release) – Attorney General Lawrence Wasden says a former Boise insurance agent has been sentenced for one count of insurance fraud.

Fourth District Judge Steven Hippler gave Mylinh N. Fetterman a one-year fixed sentence with five years indeterminate. She was immediately taken into custody. Fetterman was ordered to pay $31,090 in restitution to her former employer, Primerica Insurance.

Fetterman, 40, pleaded guilty on Jan. 22 to one count of insurance fraud.

Between 2010 and 2014, Fetterman took money from clients’ bank accounts and issued insurance policies under their names without their knowledge. As a result, Fetterman received commissions she was not entitled to and her clients paid for policies they did not want.

The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Insurance and Primerica Insurance. Primerica fired Fetterman as a result of its investigation and notified the Idaho Department of Insurance. This case was prosecuted by deputy attorneys general in the Insurance Crimes Unit acting as Special Ada County prosecutors.
