Thirty-five-year-old Stanton Jay Wiggins was cited for careless driving May 6 and has since left the sheriff's office. Agency officials declined to say whether he quit or was fired. Idaho State Police investigators concluded the Dec. 28 crash was caused by Wiggins, who was injured when his Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle struck another motorist and rolled several times.

His patrol dog got away and was found in a neighborhood days later. Wiggins tells the Times-News of Twin Falls that the state police report leaves out important evidence. He declined to elaborate without speaking to his lawyer.
