Garbage Truck Driver Injured Trying to Go Under Bridge
GLENNS FERRY, Idaho (AP) — A garbage truck driver has been injured after she tried to drive under a bridge that was shorter than her vehicle.
KTVB-TV reports that the driver of a 13-foot-1-inch truck tried to driver under a bridge in Glenns Ferry that was only 12 feet 3 inches tall. The Elmore County Sheriff's Office says the truck was going around 35 to 40 mph when it struck the bridge.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be flown to a hospital by air ambulance. The extent of her injuries was unknown. Officials say the driver was lost and didn't realize the truck was bigger than the overpass.
