Never before has upgrading from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 made such a massive, city-wide difference as it does for Los Santos.

Rockstar Games has posted a new video that depicting many before and after scenes that compare the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto V to its upgraded counterpart on the PlayStation 4. While Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs and other noteworthy games from the last-gen have done this before, Grand Theft Auto V has changed numerous details to improve the overall visual fidelity of Los Santos. In particular, look at the cacti in the desert scene and the interior of the helicopter being flown, both seem to be completely redesigned. Many of times, large scale, open world games tend to look rather ugly up close. With its new first-person perspective, Rockstar is actually encouraging its players to take in all those small, remastered details.

Grand Theft Auto V will hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 18. Its PC counterpart will debut on Jan. 27, 2015.

Thank goodness there's no split-screen comparisons for hot coffee:
