The Blaine County Sheriff's Office sent out this notice on their Facebook page:

Hwy 20 Closure for Wildlife Crossing Today: Hwy 20 near Queen's Crown between Milepost 191-194 will be closed today from approximately 11:30 am-12:00 pm to allow Fish and Game Officers to move a large herd of several hundred elk to the northside of the Hwy for safety. Please expect delays. We appreciate your patience.

This winter has been especially difficult for large animals like deer and elk. In recent reports the Idaho Department of Fish and Game says the deep snow forces the large animals to work harder which burns off more of their fat reserves.
