Every year, we see polarizing comments about the Twin Falls School district dress code, I decided to compare our policy to those of neighboring cities and states.

Maybe instead of complaining about a dress code that's been agreed upon by a committee of school officials, parents and students, consider complying with policy so we can stop wasting time sending them home to change.

The Twin Falls dress code for the 2016/2017 school year is pretty much the same as last year.

Some of you are perfectly fine with the code as it is and some of you think the code seems a too strict.

Here are comments from some of you who think the dress code is overkill perhaps even outdated.

"Dress codes are stupid people should be able to dress how they want and speak how they want."

"Maybe instead of focusing on something as superficial as how our children look in school, we focus more on the fact that the education provided here in Idaho ranks lowest in the country?"

"This is their time to express themselves before they get to a job that closes them up and shoves rules down their throat."

You may think that Twin Falls policy is behind the times but take a look at what schools are doing in other areas.

Here's a dress code that applies to a number of public schools in the Boise area.  It's almost identical to the code in Twin Falls.

And for more reading enjoyment, browse through the entire NINE PAGES of dress policy for Las Vegas area schools.

I hate to break it to you, but the rules apply to everyone.

Does Twin Falls really seem that strict by comparison?

If you really are concerned about your kids education, maybe instead of complaining about a dress code that's been agreed upon by a committee of school officials, parents and students, consider complying with policy so we can stop wasting time sending them home to change. I hate to break it to you, but the rules apply to everyone.
