Those of you waiting not-so-patiently for Hyrule Warriors to hit stores shelves in the West have probably been pouring over gameplay videos of the already released Japanese version and wonder why you have to wait. Now, with the first update of the game hitting Japan this week, the wait just got a bit more difficult. Hyrule Warrior's first update brings a new Challenge Mode, bug fixes and an 8-bit weapons set that fans of the original Legend of Zelda should recognize.

The September 1st update of Hyrule Warriors brings a brand new Challenge Mode to the game, pitting players in what Gematsu calls "eccentric battles" including a brand new scenario called "Faron Woods, the Great Battles!" where players will try to clear hordes of enemies as fast as possible. The update also brings a new weapon for Link, reuniting him with his original, pixelated sword and shield from The Legend of Zelda on NES.

Hyrule Warriors launches in North America on September 26 for Wii U.

We better hope Link will wake up on time for Hyrule Warriors' release.
