BOISE, Idaho (AP) — During a joint hearing of the House and Senate Health and Welfare committees, citizens testified over and over again that they want lawmakers to expand access to free health insurance through Medicaid.

KBOI-TV reports just one person testified Friday that Idaho should not expand access to Medicaid. Others spoke about all the people falling through a health insurance coverage gap.

Among those testifying were representatives of Catholic Charities of Idaho, and the AFL-CIO. Lawmakers did not vote during the hearing, which was held specifically to get public input on all aspects of health treatment and care in Idaho.
