Idaho Is Not As Politically Active As You Would Believe
If you are on social media and live in Idaho or have friends who live here, then you probably think that everyone in the state is hard core political and goes to the polls with their guns on their side and an American Flag attached to their jacked up trucks.
You'd be wrong.
I don't really want to blame this low score on the youth in our state - but I am.
According to research by WalletHub, Idaho is about as politically engaged as a potato in a brown paper sack. Idaho is literally the most lukewarm of the states coming in at 26 of 51. We are not on the upper end or the lower end but exactly in the middle overall. We are on the deep end when it comes to political contributions coming in as the 5th lowest in the US.
I don't really want to blame this low score on the youth in our state - but I am. WalletHub also reports that Idaho is 7th in Political engagement among the elderly and way down at 41 among young people age 18-24.
Now, these are stats from previous years. We have the opportunity to raise our status by actually doing what the rest of America thinks we are going to do. We can all go out and vote in the presidential election and make a difference.
