ANTHONY, Idaho (AP) — A 19-year-old Idaho man has been sentenced to three to 10 years in prison for attacking jailers at Five County Detention Center.

The Post Register reports that Colton Copeland pleaded guilty Nov. 10 to two separate attacks on jailers. A nonbinding plea agreement stipulated that the sentences for each attack could run concurrently.

But a district judge decided instead to sentence Copeland to consecutive sentences. Defense attorney Paul Butikofer says Copeland was incarcerated by the time he was 8 years old and has been in and out of correctional facilities since then.

Butikofer says mental health court is reviewing Copeland's application. The teenager has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and a possible diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder.
