QUINCY, Wash. (AP) — Authorities in Grant County say a small single-engine plane crashed as it was trying to take off from a road, hitting a Quincy woman who standing along the road taking pictures of the flight.

The Grant County sheriff's office says the 67-year-old pilot, Randall Grandpre of Osburn, Idaho, was not hurt in the crash that happened near Quincy around 6:40 a.m. Friday. A 13-year-old female passenger was treated for a minor leg injury and released at the scene. The woman on the ground, 57-year-old Rebecca Gregg, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

Authorities say Grandpre was using a roadway as a runaway to pilot his homemade light plane. During take-off, the plane's wing struck shrubs along the road, causing it veer and strike Gregg. The plane, which didn't lift off the ground, then crashed into a yard.
