BOISE (KTVB) -- Idaho Republicans will soon be asked to approve new party platforms, which include proposed measures such as radically changing the structure of committees inside the Idaho Statehouse and ensuring that all bills receive a legislative hearing.

The Idaho Republican Party will vote on the proposed resolutions during its winter meeting which will take place over Friday and Saturday.

Thirteen resolutions have been submitted so far, but party members have the option of considering late submissions.

According to a resolution submitted from a north Idaho member, the House Speaker would be asked to assign committee seats using a lottery system rather than by appointment.

Even if the resolutions are approved, the Republican-dominated Idaho Legislature isn't bound to adopt them. However, the Statehouse often considers new platforms submitted by the party.
