TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Twin Falls Sheriff's Authorities are investigating the discovery of an infant found dead early Thursday morning in a diaper bag south of Twin Falls. According to the sheriff's office a county deputy was on routine patrol when he discovered the bag with the new born infant girl inside at 1:30 a.m. on South Blue Lakes Boulevard near 3360 North. Investigators think the baby was only at that location for a short time.

A forensic pathologist conducted an autopsy during the day, but was unable to determine if the baby girl was born alive or not. The sheriff's office says she appeared to be full-term. Authorities could not determine the cause of death.

According to the sheriff's office deputies where disturbed by the infants death. Tuesday evening as the officers gathered for their shift they felt it appropriate to give the baby a proper name other than Baby Jane Doe. Instead deputies named the girl "Angel Rose". Deputies intend to raise money for a headstone and memorial for baby Rose. The sheriff's office said deputies felt it is something "this little angel deserves". Details on the fund will be released at a later date.

Meanwhile, if you have any information, recognize the diaper bag, or witnessed a vehicle in this area early this morning, please contact SIRCOMM at 735-1911.
