The Idaho State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash early Sunday (Mar. 1), off of I84 near Twin Falls, that left one person dead and another hospitalized.

Early Sunday (Mar. 1), at approximately 3:33 am, Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury crash on Interstate 84 at the milepost 173 off ramp, near Twin Falls, in Jerome County.

Bruno Gonzalez Vargas, 21, of Jerome, was driving eastbound on Interstate 84, near exit 173 in a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. Gonzalez Vargas failed to negotiate the curve, drove off the roadway, over corrected, and came back onto the road. The vehicle overturned on the right shoulder, ejecting Gonzalez Vargas and passenger Adrian Torres, 21, of Jerome, and then caught on fire.

Neither occupants were wearing seatbelts. Torres was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Gonzalez Vargas was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, ID.

Next of kin has been notified.

The road was partially blocked for approximately 3.5 hours. The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
