When I was a kid and I wanted sugary cereals, I had to go to my grandma's for it and I DID!  Shhh Mom still doesn't need to know.  And when I did get my grubby little hands on the sugary stuff, I went straight for the Cap'n Crunch....Hmmm...funny how now I reach for The Captain!  Anyways, Cap'n Cruch's sales are down and Quarker Oats could be pulling the delicious treat off the shelves.

I don't get it.  What kid wouldn't want to ingest last quantities of sugar soaked in whole milk while dressed like a pirate?  I'm wearing a pirate outfit right now.  OK I wish.  According to DailyFinance.com they site government pressure to reduce sugary cereals and downward sales.

Government Pressure:

PepsiCo. and other food companies are under pressure from the White House -- especially from First Lady Michelle Obama -- to make their products healthier. Activists have long been irate over the marketing of sweetened cereals such as Cap'n Crunch to children. Last year, PepsiCo vowed to reduce added sugar per serving by 25% and saturated fat by 15% in its products over the next 10 years. This pressure may explain why the Cap'n is less visible than he was in years past. A company spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Sales Are Down:

"The whole brand line has under 2% market share of cold cereal."

I'm asking you now citizens to do your part and buy a box of Cap'n Crunch, then schedule a dentist appointment.
