KETCHUM, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) - Blaine County Residents might be able to speed up on a section of Highway 75 near Ketchum.

The speed limit was lowered for several miles south of Ketchum, after an extensive highway project was completed last fall. ITD now has found many drivers are driving above the posted speed limit, but they are speeding at a quote "safe level.".

As a result of the speed study, Nathan Jerke, Idaho Transportation Department said they will likely change the speed limit back to roughly what it was prior to the construction project.

If ITD moves forward with the speed limit change, the speed limit south of the Big Wood River Bridge will be raised from 45 mph to 55 mph. They say they plan on leaving the stretch of Highway 75 from Ketchum to the bridge at 35mph.
