Kiss Releases ‘Monster’ Cover Artwork

Kiss Monster
Kiss / Facebook

It’s here! The members of the Kiss army have been scouring the Internet for over a week to find the full cover artwork of the bands upcoming album ‘Monster.’

The legendary rockers have been doing a pretty ingenious thing, releasing portions of the image via their ‘Monster Hunt’ Facebook app. Gotta love Kiss — always up with the latest marketing trends. (Although, we’ll again politely suggest that they forgot one particularly important rock site. A-hem!)

The complete ‘Monster’ cover can be seen to the left, showing the band in all their trademark makeup-wearing glory. Although it doesn’t rank up there with painted-cover classics like ‘Destroyer’ or ‘Love Gun,’ this relatively straight-ahead shot certainly stands head and shoulders above some of Kiss’s worst album covers. Although, as our buddies at MetalSucks point out, a certain energy-drink company has a right to complain that their logo’s been trampled on a bit.

Regardless, lovers-o-Kiss are oh, so excited for ‘Monster.’ The album is Kiss’ first since their 2009 studio comeback ‘Sonic Boom,’ and is produced by Paul Stanley and Greg Collins. It is due out Oct. 16, and we’ve already gotten an earful of the first single, ‘Hell or Hallelujah.’ While the members are all over 50 — Gene Simmons turns 63 on Aug. 25 — ‘Monster’ is said to display Kiss at the top of their game.

If you don’t believe us, maybe you’ll trust the Demon’s words: “There are no symphony orchestras, boy choirs, keyboards, outside producers or songwriters on this album. The best thing we did was turn inwards to ourselves. Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer] have revitalized this band, with a work ethic and the talent to back it up. This is a real band effort. Kiss has become a behemoth. We’re going where no bands have gone before.”
