The conference aims to give 4-H members an opportunity to become knowledgeable about the decision-making process in their communities and state.

“This strengthens the connection between youth and political and social networks through education, experiences, application and inspiration,” reads information from the extension office.

The Know Your Government Conference, scheduled for Feb. 18-20 in Boise, will give youth the opportunity to:

  • Learn how the state government decision-making process works; and
  • Learn how to participate politically to influence state government

Also,

Participants in the Legislative Workshop learn about the state government decision-making process by participating in mock committee meetings with guidance from legislators at the Capitol then participating in a mock legislative session.

Participants in the Judicial Workshop learn about the Idaho court system, how laws affect teenagers and participate in mock trials held at the Ada County Courthouse. They take tours of the Supreme Court building and visit with judges and attorneys.
