A horribly disturbing story from outside the classic rock world resulted in Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins pleading guilty to multiple child sex offenses yesterday.

Watkins pled guilty to 13 charges, including two counts of attempted rape, one count of sexual assault of a child under 13, three counts of sexual assault involving children, six counts of taking, making and possessing indecent images of children, and one act of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal. One of the two children he admitted to attempting to rape was less than a year old.

His trial was scheduled to begin at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales this week, but after previously stating he "furiously denied" the charges following his December 2012 arrest, Watkins made his shocking confession. He will be sentenced on Dec. 18. In the words of Judge Justice Royce, thanks to his decision the jury was "saved from having to watch extremely graphic and distressing material."

Two women who cannot be named were also arrested and have pled guilty to various charges related to this case. According to the BBC, a prosecuting barrister revealed that "both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins to abuse." Watkins reportedly filmed his attempted rapes, which were then discovered by police who cracked his "cloud" storage password.
