FILER, Idaho (AP) — A convicted felon is accused of shooting at a Twin Falls sheriff's sergeant during a high-speed chase.

The Times-News reports that 24-year-old Skylar Wade Meade was set to be arraigned Monday in Twin Falls Magistrate Court in connection to the incident on Friday. He is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault on an officer, eluding, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say Meade fled after Twin Falls County Sheriff's Sgt. Rick Beem attempted to make a traffic stop on Friday. Meade then sped away toward filer and prosecutors say he fired three shots at the sergeant.

Beem backed off the chase after the shots were fired but Meade lost control of his vehicle and crashed shortly after.
