TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) A California man is behind bars after allegedly leading police on a brief chance trough a Twin Falls neighborhood. Chuck Maggs, 34, was arrested by Twin Falls Police Tuesday when an officer alleges he ran a red light and speed from downtown to a neighborhood along Addison Avenue Tuesday evening.

The officer said in court documents that a pickup was chasing Maggs’ Hyundai Elantra. The officer followed the vehicles down second avenue noting he had reached speeds around 85 mph and was not able to catch up. The Hyundai eventually speed down a neighborhood street north of Addison Avenue going nearly 60 mph. The car then abruptly stopped and hit a curb blowing a tire on Monroe Street near Addison Ave. The officer says he detained Maggs and alleges he had blood shot eyes and breath that smelled like alcohol. Maggs refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Police say the driver of the pickup pulled up and told him the Hyundai had hit his vehicle and drove off and was following the car to report it to police. Maggs is facing DUI, eluding police, and drug charges. Maggs had been previously convicted of DUI charges in California according to court documents.
