Man Leads Magic Valley Police on Chase then Crashes Pickup
Shoshone, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Police in Shoshone arrested a man after he led authorities on a pursuit that begin in Gooding County. Kacey Cozzens 24, has been charged with Burglary, Grand Theft, Aggravated Battery and Alluding an officer. Authorities allege that Cozzens stole a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab Pickup from a residence in Gooding County. The suspect is alleged to have driven his personal vehicle to the residence where the pickup was taken. According to court documents the suspect told authorities that he took the pickup because he was running out of gas and needed to get to Wyoming.
The suspect in the reported stolen truck was later spotted driving recklessly on Highway 26. When authorities spotted the vehicle it turned into a pursuit that led into Shoshone Wednesday evening around 8pm. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed through a locked gate at the Idaho Transportation Department and striking a building and another vehicle. The vehicle high centered on concrete where authorities took Cozzens into custody. Cozzens was arraigned in Gooding County Thursday Afternoon.
