Better be careful when you bring your companions on a mission with you in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. If they die out in the field, they're not coming back. Yes, that includes DD, your canine companion.

Despite how adorable you think Snake's adopted wolf is in Metal Gear Solid V, be careful when you bring him out into the wild. Kotaku reports Hideo Kojima has said that Snake's horse, Quiet the Sniper, DD the wolf and your other companions can all permanently die while on a mission. While they offer great help out on the field, just be careful when you have them out there. We're sure you can always find a new horse, but not a new DD (which stands for Diamond Dog) or a replacement for Quiet. Given Quiet's superior combat skills, enhanced agility and stealth capabilities, we have a feeling you won't have to worry about her. Just remember, Mother Base will occasionally be attacked too, so keep an eye out for DD while you're defending your home.

Kojima's cross-game cameos get even more ridiculous with the inclusion of a P.T.-themed Active Decoy gadget. Active Decoys are auto-inflating dummies that you can throw out to use and distract enemies. Snake's likeness was used for the first Active Decoys we saw, but Lisa, the ghost from P.T., is the latest image we have seen used to distract enemies. Check out the return of this creepy ghoul in the video below.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will launch in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There's still no planned release date in sight for Silent Hills.

Hope DD likes Mother Base, because he isn't peeing in Metal Gear Zeke during our morning commute.
